This document outlines how to use the new paging features on your Yealink desk phone. These shortcuts allow you to make one-way voice announcements to specific offices or groups instantly.
Overview of Paging
A Page is a one-way audio broadcast. When you activate a page, the phones in the destination group will beep and then automatically turn on their speakerphones so they can hear your announcement.
Note: Paging is one-way only. The people receiving the page cannot speak back to you through the page broadcast.
How to Send a Page
Your phone has been pre-configured with dedicated Line Keys (the buttons next to your screen) for the various office locations.
Using the Line Keys
- Locate the button on your phone screen corresponding to the location you want to reach (e.g., "Page EUG" for Eugene).
- Press the button. The phone will immediately initiate the page.
- Wait for the short tone, then speak clearly into the handset or speakerphone.
- Hang up or press End Call when your announcement is finished.
Available Paging Groups
You can reach the following locations directly from your phone:
Label on Phone Destination Extension
Page EUG Eugene Office 3000
Page RB Roseburg Office 3010
Page MD Medford Office 3020
Page SM Salem Office 3030
Page TLN Lavender Network 3040
Page GP Grants Pass Office 3050
Pg Emrg Resp Emergency Response 3060
Receiving a Page
- Auto-Answer: When someone pages your group, your phone will emit a short beep and automatically activate the speaker.
- During an Active Call: If you are already on a call, the page will typically not interrupt your conversation (depending on your specific handset settings), ensuring your private client calls remain private.
- Volume Control: You can adjust the volume of incoming pages by using the Volume (-/+) buttons on your phone while a page is actively playing.
Best Practices
- Be Brief: Since paging broadcasts to many phones at once, keep your announcements short and professional.
- Wait for the Tone: Always wait a split second for the connection tone before speaking to ensure the beginning of your message isn't cut off.
- Emergency Only: Use the "Pg Emrg Resp" button only for urgent situations that require immediate, organization-wide attention.
