How to initiate a text conversation

First you will need to know the persons cell phone number and carrier.

For the example below, we used my phone number and carrier, 5415149857/ T-Mobile.

All HIV Alliance Staff cell phones are Verizon - 10digitphonenumber@vtext.com

  1. Open outlook and start a new message.
  2. In the To… box type in the 10 digit phone number and the carriers info

(SEE LIST BELOW FOR OTHER CARRIERS) this example is 5415149857@tmomail.net

  1. You should limit your messages to less than 160 characters. If the limit is exceeded the text can be sent through a different gateway and may cause delivery problems.
  2. Be sure to remove your signature and any additional text below your message.
